The official end of the Netherlands Climate Assistance Programme was marked by a side event at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen in December 2009. The event included a heated debate on climate adaptation and began with speeches from Jaqueline Kramer, the Netherlands Minister for Environment, Hugo von Meijenfeldt, the Netherlands Special Envoy for Climate Change, Dr. Pier Vellinga, a leading Dutch climate change expert, and Boubacar Dembele, of the Minister of Environment of Mali. The event also included the launch of the NCAP book: The Adaptation Continuum, which was officially handed to Minister Kramer by Mr. Boubacar Dembele on behalf of the NCAP team. The book is expected to be published shortly by Earthscan.
